The Voyage of Regret
The Voyage of Regret…
Tossed on the gale swept seas of this
ill-planned voyage, darkness looms before and aft.
Knees buckle as the deck that is my
life, my very soul, writhes against this torturous course.
The timbers of the masts called resolve,
fortitude and morals, scream and crack under
the windswept fury that rips life’s
sails away.
The compass broken, the rudder lost,
the sun is but a memory.
The bilge awash with the pain of life,
the pumps are overcome
Reality is black, yet while all heaves
in tumultuous despair, I search the sky for some small break in
the storm.
Through the blackened clouds of discontent
and torment, a faint glimmer of light momentarily reveals itself
a star.
Summoning up the remains of
my might, I hold on, close my eyes…
and wish…
